After attending Livingston schools from 1st grade thru 11th (Collins, Mt. Pleasant 1/2 days, Heritage, and LHS), my family moved to Barrington, RI at the end of Junior year. I attended Brown University (along with my older brother Dave and younger brother Rob), where I competed in Track and Field, belonged to Delta Phi, and graduated with Honors in Environmental Engineering. I went on to graduate school at Harvard in Public Health, and joined the faculty at the NYU School of Medicine, where I am now a Professor, doing research and teaching about the human health effects of air pollution. My faculty web page is:

On my "personal front", I'm married with 4 kids: 2 in college (Brown and NYU: no surprises there!), and 2 still in high school (Monroe-Woodbury HS, NY). I still run when I can, and have coached my kids in soccer, even though that was not my sport. My wife of 33 years, Prudence (also a Brown alum), and I are active in supporting our school system, our church, and some local politics. I do a lot of consulting to the government on air pollution matters, and also advise public interest groups (e.g. the American Lung
Association) in regard to clean air advocacy. |
