Alan Rackin
Writing songs that voices never share
The high school's newest addition. Alan admitted that LHS was like a Vincent Price movie--so hair-raising that he left in the middle of it!...resolutely cries, "the present day composer refuses to die!"--even his shadow pulls through...poetic style and maniacal ideas provide quite a future on the records and on the reels...while humming 'Carnival,' he throws stones at the moon--and wonder WHY.

(3)What can I say? Our lives were so interwoven. We wrote music together, had bands together, raised families simultaneously later in life, saw each other continuously and then intermittently, then continuously again. I remember him saying "I'm dead" which I thought was odd because he certainly wasn't as far as I could see. His career just wasn't going well, but to him that was life itself. That's how committed he was to his art. He certainly was talented - (check him out on the CD). He was a brilliant wordsmith who could make you laugh, think and cry with his lyrics. Fortunately, he had some well deserved recognition and success. Never did anyone so fearlessly give it all to his passion. He reappeared at one point showing my family a part of my life they hadn't known about and reminding me of things in my past I had long forgotten. I'll miss Alan. He took a part of me with him.
Dianne,
I remember Alan...and I am truly sorry for your loss. He was a good person - didn't know him as a "man" - but I know he is still here with you in spirit and in your heart.
Alan was the beloved father of Vincent & Kristina Rackin. He was also a singer/songwriter, & has 2 Gold Records for "Livin' On The Edge Of The Night"for the movie Black Rain, & Show Me Heaven" for the movie Days of Thunder - it was the love theme for Tom Cruise & Nicole Kidman. It was #1 on the charts internationaly for 8 weeks. He was loved by all & had an untimely death Oct. 2007, having a sudden myocardial infarction. He was my high school sweetheart & will live in my heart forever. Dianne Rackin
