Karenne Jo Bloomgarden resides in South Africa.
I moved here July 2007 and love it. I first came over with Habitat for Humanity, 7 years ago, and then returned 2-3 times a year for the next 6 years. I fell in love with the people of S. Africa and decided I can do more for the children if I lived here. So, I retired from teaching in NYC, and moved here. My dear friends here run a private game reserve, where I stay, so I would see all the wonderful animals, giraffe, lion, rhino, buffalo, cheetah, elephant, then drive to my schools 40 minutes away. The work is voluntary, but so amazing. My school started with 35 kids, we now have over 500, we started a school this year for kids with disabilities.
